Michele thinking of another pose for her models

It is always fun to shoot for a laid back client who gives you full creative freedom. It is even better to shoot for a client that is passionate about their job. On top of that, it is even better to have the client feel like a friend by the end of the day.

On Sunday I had the privilege to shoot Michele Katsalas’ photography promotional video. From the time she hoped out of her car to the final shot of the video, Michele was smiling and enjoying every second of the day. It was amazing to share the experience with someone who is as passionate as I feel I am.

First shot of the day

We had a great day and beautiful weather while shooting in Chelsea at the Highline Park and surrounding area. Michele loves being behind her camera and I soon found out that’s the way she likes to be. When the camera was first turned towards her she was a little shy but after a few questions she forgot it was there and started to have fun. Her true personality came out and it was great to see.

I stuck with my Sigma 30mm and Light Craft Workshop Fader ND which proved to be an amazing combo. Audio was captured with the Zoom H4n and a Sony wireless lav. This was strapped on my indisystem hand held rig thanks to the Jag35 Single Rail Mount and Mini Ballhead. I was able to see what I was shooting with the Zacuto z-finder jr. When shooting outside the z-finder is a must have. There was no way a monitor would have done the job in the bright conditions.

At Highline Park

Thanks again to Michele who was very open to all my ideas and her wonderful models that just went with it. I am not sure I could even call that ‘work’
