In this short video Fr. Malachi Van Tassell, TOR (32nd SFU President) comments on how the Franciscan Friars continue to walk with Saint Francis students on their journey today. Directed by Chris Jurchak and surrounded by a talented crew, we were able to cover the beautiful campus in only 2 days. As the Director of Photography, Chris and I decided on the overall look and feel of this piece along with what tools would help tell the story. We looked at a ton of reference pieces and I really enjoyed how Chris wanted this to be our own look and not an exact replica of something else. Each team member played a huge role in this being a successful production. My AC, Brett Wagner, was instrumental in keeping the Dragon running smooth and making sure we had everything we needed for each scene. In addition, Brett helped me find shots as I was running around the football field, basketball court and other scenes where we only had a limited time getting our shots. We were able to send Andrew Morris out to grab timelapses and what he came back with was pure gold. He had the ability to help rig a scene, assist me on lighting, then take a golf cart and get his shots. Eli was our drone operator and grabbed more footage when not flying the DJI Phantom. With little instruction Eli was able to capture the entire campus with that drone as well as a killer basketball shot. With all the craziness going on we were lucky enough to have Kelsey Peters as our grip who also stepped into any role we needed in order to get the shots and stay on time.
Just goes to show the right people are the most important part of a successful shoot.
