The city, fashion, and making videos are just a few things I enjoy in life and it was a lot of fun to tie these three together. A friend from college started a DC based clothing line, Spksmen, and wanted a video look book to help promote the new company.
Jon has a great vision on what he wants the company to be, his target audience, and the overall feel of the clothing line. He was extremely passionate about what he wanted the video to be and also very open to my ideas. It was nice working with someone that understands the creative process of creating a video and the golden rule of shorter and faster is better.
We shot this at Georgetown and at a place outside of Chinatown which made for some really interesting backgrounds. It gave to video a raw, urban look and that’s exactly what I wanted. Shot 100% with the Marshall 5” monitor which gave me perfect exposure and sharp images. My rig was powered with the Jag35 battery and lasted the entire shoot (I think about 4-5 hours). For post production I edited in Final Cut Pro and colored using Magic Bullet. I’m really happy with how it turned out. Special thanks to E Major and Tobi for being in the video. Both really cool people, fun to work with, and influential in the DC music scene.
Hope you all enjoy it.
