Wow. Wow again. Is this really free? OMG this is awesome.
That basically sums up what I thought of Vincent Laforet’s Weekend Workshop thanks to CreativeLive (www.creativelive.com).
Now to be more specific. When I first heard this was a free workshop I was a little skeptical. We have all seen free ‘training’ videos for production and although they may have some good information we realize why they are free. Well, anyone who didn’t see Vincent’s workshop needs to go ahead and buy it from CreativeLive (it was free when it was live). If you don’t have the money, sell something you don’t use on Craigslist or Ebay. Here is why…
Vincent Laforet is an innovator when it comes to HDSLR and in my opinion one of the best (check out http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/). This workshop is perfect for anyone shooting with an HDSLR and even those who are not. Whether you just picked up your first camera or have been doing this all your life, you will learn A LOT! Just out of college I have been shooting professional for not long compared to others and I just recently got a Canon 7D. Even though some of the things Vincent covered were basic, I found my self taking notes like it was for an exam. And you know what? I was having fun. He made everything entertaining. Even when he went over frame rates which I was already familiar with, I learned a few new things and was hanging on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what was next. He even took the time to go through how he made his short, Reverie. I feel as if I am ready to take my videos to the next level and I have already seen an improvement of my work (especially lighting techniques). I could go on and on about how great Vincent was, knowledge wise and personality wise, but I have to give credit to the CreativeLive team as well.
The team at CreativeLive was unbelievable. Even with some small tech problems and time adjustments, everything seemed to flow very smoothly. I actually enjoyed the ‘problems’ because I was able to play with my 7D and try out things Vincent was teaching. So thank you CreativeLive. I will be sure to thank you and Vincent when I win my first big award.
