Working with the Glidecam

For the past month I’ve been working with the Glidecam and I love it. I saw footage of it online and kept thinking how cool it would be to be able to do that in my videos. Luckily I have a good friend with the 2000 Pro and I was able to borrow it. The initial setup takes a lot of time but after that it just takes minor tweaking to balance. I recommend checking out Cristina’s video over at Canon Filmmakers Live to see how to set it up.

When I first starting using the Glidecam it was really hard. My handheld footage looked smoother! Although frustrated at first I really wanted the steadicam look so I kept at it. After about a week I started getting the hang of it. It took more time after that to learn to walk backwards, and switch directions. What I find most difficult is smoothly stopping and starting, but after more practice I have gotten better at it.

I put this video together to show a few projects I used the Glidecam with and a little commentary to go along with it. Enjoy!
